Ethereum currently has the second largest market cap afterBitcoin.

Because of this, many investors are now flocking to Ethereum. Naturally, this has surged demand for more secure Ethereum wallets.

And in my opinion, this is what all securecryptocurrencywallets need to have:

I believe that if a wallet doesnt have any one of these things, your coins could be at risk and you could give yourself a major headache. When looking for wallets, make sure that the above requirements are met before you store your coins there. If you want to get hold of ETH Instantly using Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency, just use the widget below.

Here I have listed out the best wallets for Ethereum. They all meet the above requirements.

Before that, here are the top exchanges with Ethereum market:

This is the most modern ETH hardware wallet that you could get. Ledger has been a pioneer in the industry of hardware wallets and they support Ethereum all the tokens of Ethereum chain.

Right now Ledger Ethereum integration is available via MyEtherwallet which makes it easier for you to manage your Ethereum coin. Apart from ETH, you can also store many other coins. This is the successor of popular Ledger Nano S. The major difference is it has battery and bluetooth, so mobility has increased significantly. Moreover, you can manage more Coins at the same time. Using Ledger Nano X is as easy as the Ledger Nano S which I have mentioned below. The price is only $119 and all future firmware updates are free. The price also includes free shipping.

The Ledger Nano S is one of the most inexpensive Ethereum hardware wallets available ($59). Here, Ether is stored offline on the device. Whenever you want to spend Ether, Ledger signs it using the private key stored on the device. You can store both ETH & ETC. Harsh has made few videos guide about Ledger Nano S that you must check out. This will help you to learn everything about Ledger Nano S.

The best thing about the Ledger Nano S is that it comes with a small OLED screen which allows you to control your transactions. The security is so robust that you can use your Nano S device even on a hacked computer.

Trezor was the first hardware wallet invented for Bitcoin. However, now Trezor can be used for Ethereum too with theMyEtherWallet web interface.

It also stores Ether offline on a secure electronic chip which can be activated only when you log in with your password.

It comes in 3 colors white, gray, and black and costs $99.

Atomic Wallet is an ultimate solution for Ethereum and ERC20 tokens. The wallet enables you to store, exchange and buy ETH with a bank card. In future, Ethereum will be available for swapping with Atomic Swaps, a fully decentralized way for exchanging cryptos without involving intermediaries.

Atomic Wallet supports over 300 cryptocurrencies and provides you with its interface for all ERC20 tokens. Basically, you can input a contact address and have your custom coin in your Atomic Wallet. The wallet encrypts your private keys on your device and gives you full access and control over your funds.

Atomic Wallet is available almost for any desktop operating system and will be on Android and iOS devices.

Guarda is a non-custodial wallet for storing Ethereum. The Guarda wallet has an intuitive interface and offers a high degree of protection. The wallet is available for Desktop, mobile and web interface is also available.

When you setup Guarda wallet, you are the only one who controls the private key. This way, you are in complete control of your Ethereum coins and other coins if you wish to store on Guarda. No personal information is required to use Guarda wallet which has become a De facto standard among all top Ethereum wallets.

Argent is the most modern mobile wallet for Ethereum. This is one unique ETH wallet which is non-custodial but it doesnt let you store the private key. The wallet is configured using your Email address and mobile number and can be recovered using the same.

The unique feature about this wallet is integration withcompound.financewhich let you lend your Ethereum and let you accumulate interest. The wallet also has a dAPP browser and if you want your non-techie family and friend to use a Ethereum wallet, this is the easiest one for them and for yourself.

Exodus is the worlds first multi-cryptocurrencydesktop wallet. It is free to use and has an attractive UI. As soon as you open the Exodus wallet, a pie chart will show your entire portfolio of coins.

It supports seven cryptocurrencies (including Ethereum) and is the first desktop wallet to haveShapeShiftbuilt in for exchanging cryptocurrencies.

However, while using Exodus, one needs to always be connected to the internet, but you need not worry as your private keys never leave your machine.

Features like one-click email recovery and backup seed keys for restoring your wallet ensure the security of your funds.

Update:Exodus now supports close to 100 cryptocurrencies! They also have multiple exchange partners (not just ShapeShift), which means we can offer more exchangeable assets. Sourcing liquidity from various partners has made exchanging in Exodus faster and more reliable.

They also do not require a personal email this is an option for those who wish to receive the email backup link. Any email address can be used or none at all! The email is only used once to send the backup link. Privacy is very important to Exodus and they do not store any customer personal data not even the email address.

Exodus users can also send funds to and receive funds fromsmart contracts.

Jaxx is a multi-asset wallet created by the Canada-based company,Decentral. It supports 13 cryptocurrencies (including ETH) and has an elegant design with robust security features.

On Jaxx, private keys never leave the device, and features like seed keys enable you to restore your funds whenever required.

It has an amazing development community which looks after innovation and maintenance of the product.

Desktop (Windows, Mac OS, Linux), Extension (Chrome, Firefox), Mobile/Tablet (Apple, Android)

No registration or personal information needed

Jaxx wallet is available for Android, iOS, Mac OS, Windows, Linux. They are also launching a hardware wallet in the coming months.

MestaMask is one of my favorite Ethereum wallets.

It is like a browser to access the Ethereum network. It not only enables you to store and send Ethereum, but also allows you to access decentralized Ethereum apps.

It has an intuitive design where you can switch quickly between a test network and the main Ethereum network. Here is a video showcasing how MetaMask works:

The private keys are password encrypted and are stored on your machine, which you can export at any time.

MyEtherWallet is different from other traditional web wallets.

Why? Because unlike other web wallets, here you control Ethereums private key on your machine.

It is an open-source wallet, with no third-party servers, whereyou can write and access smart contracts. Harsh has written an article aboutthis here. It has an inbuilt BTC to ETH (and vice-versa) swap facility. You can also connect yourTrezororLedger Nano Sto access your funds in MyEthers browser environment.

Coinbase is one of the most popular Bitcoin web wallets. This year, they have also included Ethereum support.

It is a cheap and fast way of storing Ethereum, provided that they serve your country. You can check if their service is available in your country overhere.

However, thedrawback is that the private keys are not in your controlbecause they are stored on Coinbases hosted servers.

That said, its a decent way to store ETH for the short term. If you planning to hold Ethereum for the long term, you should use Paper wallet method or use a hardware wallet likeLedger Nano X.

KeepKey is the costliest Ethereum hardware wallet available ($120). It keeps your ETH in a secure offline environment and offers the same features as the Ledger Nano S or Trezor.

It has a bigger screen than its other two competitors and is a bit heavy (i.e. not easy to carry around).

KeepKeys plastic body makes it vulnerable to damage if it is accidentally dropped, but if you like its interface, it may be the right wallet for you.

Ethereum is only 4 years old and is still pretty young in the market. Thats why the wallet ecosystem has very limited options right now.

But I am very sure as the technology matures, new Ethereum wallets and will be available for each type of user.

I hope this list of Ethereum wallets will help you make the right decision when choosing where to store your Ether tokens.I would love to hear your experience if you have used any of the above wallets or any other Ethereum wallet. Do let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Atomic Wallet Review: The Universal Multi-Assets Wallet

Which Cryptocurrencies Are Supported By The Ledger Wallet?

Nice blog bro, I just wanted to get more involved in Ethereum what are your advise for me. I mean on investment. Cos a lot of scam coin are out there like TBC.

You may buy ETH from Coinbase or both are trustedBut as always secure your cryptocurrencies in a wallet where you control your private keys.

Hi Suhir . Nice article. But as I checked Coinbase doesnt have operations in India . So how can we purchase BTC or ETH from here ??

Yeah, you cant do yet. I have attached a link in Coinbase section to check your supported country.

You may purchase BTC or ETH from an exchange in your country, then transfer to Coinbase.

I use Kraken for my exchange but it will not let me verify my KK ETH address. They are saying to use a third party wallet to withdraw then send to my KK. Will MEW work as a third party wallet for this process?

What do you suggest about storing my ether in my blockchain wallet?

You can do so but I, however, prefer using MyEtherWallet for ETH.

Excuse my ignorance, but what happens if you physically lose a hardware wallet, eg Ledger Nano S can you regenerate the balance on it by buying another and re-entering seed words? Or is the balance lost? (Dont panic this is just a theoretical question!)

You need not worry about that case because you can recover your balance using your seed in another Ledger or other software wallets.

I dont know if you are aware of this, however, Myetherwallet has been hacked recently and a lot of ETH has been stolen by crooks, what do you think and in light of this fact do you still recommend Myetherwallet?

I know that people lost due their mistakes. But still, provide me a trustable link.

Thank you for your inclusive article. Im wondering how you assess Blockchain Wallet for keeping Ethers. In the end, considering the security of desktop wallets (like mist etc) I will choose them to secure my Ethers but Im a bit at primary levels with private keys and backups. So if you can provide me some information about keys Id be really grateful.

Nope, not yet! You have better Wallets of Litecoin check here-

HI, What is the best ETH wallet available in the Philippines?

For a less security- Any software wallet like- MyEtherWallet or Exodus

I bought some ether and have it as a paper wallet which has a public and private key. I have a Trezor which uses myetherwallet as an interface.

My problem is how do I get my paper wallet ether into my Trezor/myetherwallet when there is no import private key function in myetherwallet only a send function?

Frustrating, because it was easy to do that with a Bitcoin paperwallet, Any idea, thx.

On MyEtherWallet under both Ether Tokens section and Wallet Info section, there is an option of accessing the wallet via keys. You can use that for MEW.

Or else sweep your paper wallet in Jaxxs Ether Wallet and then from Jaxx transfer your ETH to Trezor wallet address.

I was talking about information access. We are doing some cool stuff with Dapps which you might find interesting. We support all ERC20 and ERC223 tokens automatically and provide a simple to use, secure interface which is why it feels like this article is incomplete without us 🙂 Take a look, we might be relatively unknown but we already have more reviews on the App Store than Jaxx. Almost 5* rating btw

Use Ledger Nano X to customize your gwei make it cheaper. MyEtherWallet also does the same.
